Welcome to In The Crease!
I am Juha Mikkola, goaltender for the ISHuskies and your host for this
portion of our site. The Huskies have put more effort into our website
this season, because we feel that the site is an important link to our
supporters. This section, In The Crease, will be a regular feature to enchance
this link between us. I will, after every game, write a short summary of
what happened in our game from my point of view. I hope you enjoy In The
Crease, and the ISHuskies Website!
What does a goalie do?
The goaltender is an important player in the game of floorball. The
goalie's job is to keep the ball out of the net. As a goaltender, you need
to be very focused. Most of the time you are the last line of defense for
your team. Also, a goalie must be very agile and fast so he can stretch
out to make saves when necessary. I stretch everyday to keep up my flexibility
and practice floorball three times a week to improve my reflexes. A goaltender
must also be able to cope with the pressure set on him by his team mates
and supporters. A goaltender can be the difference in a game, the difference
between winning and losing can also rest on the goalie's shoulders. This
adds plenty of emotional, or mental, pressure on a goalie in a big game.
If you are able to master all the aspects of goaltending, you can be a
very big help to your team when called upon.
Hope you enjoy our site!
